Tomorrowland reflects on a successful 2023 and looks forward to an innovative future

Tomorrowland continues to focus on innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility while growing and pushing new boundaries in the world of entertainment.

Thursday, August 1, 2024 – The financial statement of WeAreOne.World, the company that organizes the Belgian Tomorrowland festival, closed on December 31, 2023, shows a distributable profit of 8,426,433 EUR. The company's revenue amounted to 129 million EUR in 2023, compared to 164 million EUR in 2022, a year significantly impacted by the organization of an extra festival weekend. The company's available equity as of December 31, 2023, stands at 29,971,089 EUR. Just like in 2022, Tomorrowland organized another successful edition of the festival in 2023, made possible by an experienced and motivated team and a network of world-class suppliers. Tomorrowland continues to focus on innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility while growing and pushing new boundaries in the world of entertainment.

Economic Impact on local and national economy
The festival has a significant economic impact on the local and national economy. For the organization of Tomorrowland 2023, goods and services were purchased from over 1,200 Belgian suppliers. These purchases contribute to the employment of 557 full-time equivalents and 37 million EUR in welfare for the Belgian economy. The two festival weekends increase economic activity by nearly 281 million EUR, resulting in an increase of 1,900 full-time jobs.

During the festival, 15,000 people are employed for the total organization of the festival. The financial return to the government, through RSZ contributions, personal income tax, corporate tax, and VAT, amounted to 75.9 million EUR.

Additionally, the tourism sector flourishes thanks to the many festival-goers who stay overnight in Brussels and the surrounding area of Boom, such as Antwerp and Mechelen. Each weekend, 200,000 festival-goers are welcomed in Boom, of which about 20,000 have purchased a travel package, staying in hotels and possibly visiting other cities in Belgium.

Love Tomorrow
Tomorrowland remains committed to sustainability and social responsibility. The festival strives to minimize its ecological footprint through various initiatives such as recycling programs, green energy, and waste reduction, under the banner of Love Tomorrow. There is close cooperation with Natuurpunt, CLAIRE, and other local organizations. More information about the initiatives and the calculation of the ecological footprint of Tomorrowland 2023 can be found here: Sustainability Report.

Tomorrowland Foundation
Additionally, Tomorrowland supports various social projects worldwide. The Tomorrowland Foundation has established music and art schools in India, Nepal, and Brazil. Alongside the partnership with Cunina, there is close collaboration with Mobile School. This Belgian organization is active in 38 countries, with over 60 schools and more than 250 educational materials, and remains an important part of the social efforts developed with the Tomorrowland Foundation. A new Live.Love.Unite toolkit was just developed for the Mobile School, linking over 90 different situations to the well-known Tomorrowland values. During the festival, social employment is facilitated by organizations such as Camp 2 Camp and Vlotter.

International Growth and Innovation
Tomorrowland has grown into a global entertainment company with activities in eight different countries, including Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Dubai. The group includes various business units, such as Festival & Events, Leisure, Music, Artists (booking & management), Fashion, Media (One World Radio), and the Tomorrowland DJ Academy. Earlier this year, a partnership was formed with South Korean Caliverse to further develop Tomorrowland's digital events and worlds. Currently, there is also consideration for the possible development of a Tomorrowland festival in Thailand.

Local Roots
Tomorrowland has had a place in De Schorre for 20 years. Significant investments have been made in the recreation park and its surroundings in recent years. Thanks to good cooperation with the host municipalities of Boom and Rumst, as well as the province of Antwerp, Tomorrowland and DreamVille have found a fantastic location and continue to develop the area.

Looking forward
In October 2024, Tomorrowland will return to Sao Paulo for Tomorrowland Brasil, followed shortly by various events in Amsterdam during the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), including a free expo at De Rooden Hoed and the Our Story show at the Ziggo Dome. The first book, "The Great Library of Tomorrow," from the trilogy "The Book of Wisdom," will be released internationally this fall, in collaboration with a series of international publishers. Also, the Immersive Experience will travel to Madrid this fall after a successful stop in Barcelona. Preparations are underway for the winter edition of Tomorrowland in March 2025 in Alpe d’Huez.
