Tomorrowland wins Henry Van De Velde Company Award and shines in Bozar show
This month, Tomorrowland was presented with the Henry Van de Velde “Company Award' in the beautiful Henry Le Bœuf hall at Bozar Brussels. This is a design award for companies that make strategic use of designers and graphic designers for their activities, awarded by Flanders District for Creativity. The criteria are degree of professionalism, strategy, sustainability and innovation. An independent jury explained the reasons for their choice: "Tomorrowland uses design in an exemplary way. Design is found in many branches of the company: from service design and experience design to product design and graphic design." In addition to the award, Tomorrowland is also part of the exhibition at Bozar, which you can visit for free until April 2.
Construction of Tomorrowland Winter in Alpe d'Huez
Our People of Tomorrow are waxing their skis, boards and dancing legs because in less than three weeks, we’ll be welcoming 22,000 festivalgoers, from 90 different countries, to Alpe d'Huez for the third, completely sold-out edition of Tomorrowland Winter. Meanwhile, the first of the 59 fully loaded trucks and 2 container chassis have departed from our Warehouse and our team has started the construction in the beautiful, sun-drenched French Alps.
Here's a sneak peek with a first photo of the Crystal Garden. This impressive stage is built with real snow. The skeleton measuring 42 metres wide and 8 metres high, was created in-house, made by the Atelier team, transported to an altitude of 2,100 metres and is now being meticulously put together. During the festival, the snow will be touched up at night and in the early morning by specialised ice and snow sculptors.
Some more fun Tomorrowland Winter facts:
- 8 stages including 2 brand-new ones: Youphoria and Frozen Lotus. The CORE stage will be at a new location. The Top of The Mountain stage is at 3,300 metres altitude. The Mainstage measures 90 x 50 metres, with a height of 16 metres and offers over 6000 m2 surface area (including floor). During Tomorrowland Winter we will set up the largest indoor concert space in the entire region! With 8 aerial acts and a large indoor fireworks display, a spectacular show is guaranteed.
- NEW: a Tomorrowland restaurant in the air! Nubes will be serving a delicious menu in the ski lift. And there’s also Papillon 1860: a brand-new Tomorrowland cocktail bar where you can enjoy creations by, among others, the Parisian mixologist Matthias Giroud, accompanied by finger food.
- The Tomorrowland Academy will be coming to Alpe d'Huez for the first time with workshops and free lectures by top artists.
Four years of One World Radio
Four years ago, Steve Aoki supplied the very first minute of music on One World Radio. He took up position at the DJ booth at De Schorre and kicked off One World Radio in festive style. What started as a temporary channel on the occasion of Tomorrowland's 15th anniversary has grown into a permanent phenomenon. Meanwhile, One World Radio has more than 1.5 million unique listeners per month in more than 130 countries via the Tomorrowland App, via DAB+ for listeners in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Malta and via FM in Romania and Spain. That adds up to 2,043,360 minutes or 34,056 hours of unique music and 134 Tomorrowland Friendship mixes.
A few stats:
- ‘Where Are You Now’ by Lost Frequencies & Calum Scott is the most played song in 4 years of One World Radio.
- We can count on 5 daily hosts (Ben, Camille, Adam, Justin and Greg) and 2 weekly hosts (MC Stretch and Austin Kramer).
- 11 DJ residencies: Armin van Buuren, Timmy Trumpet, NERVO, MORTEN, DJs From Mars, Dino Lenny, Vintage Culture, M.I.K.E. Push, Laidback Luke, Amber Broos and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano.
Tomorrowland parties in local rest homes
After a three-year break, the enthusiastic Tomorrowland neighbourhood team organised parties on-site at rest homes in Boom and Rumst. This heart-warming initiative arose after some neighbourhood parties were faced with heatwaves and rain.
